little of this, little of that

My three-day weekend has been progressing nicely, and so far, I've pretty much been able to achieve my main goal for it: balancing work with relaxing. Yesterday I did some committee work, as well as finish Ugly Betty season 1 (I really enjoyed it, but I think this one is going to be a DVD show for me) and doing some reading.

I drove to my parents' house today. I went out with Mom, my sister M., and my nephew to the local farmer's market, as well as visiting the new library in town. (What can I say? I am my job sometimes.) I had a good time with all of that, just laughing and enjoying the chance to spend time with all of them. Once we got back, I got the last of my stuff, pretty much, and got it in my car and my parents' truck. Tomorrow, it's an early breakfast before hitting the road.

I've finished the book I brought with me (I was re-reading The Perilous Gard--now I know why [info]katesutton's username always sounded so familiar to me!) and I'm a bit at loose ends for the moment. There's a match on the Tennis Channel I could watch, but I don't really feel like it. I've already read, and laughed my head off, at [info]carlisle_coop's stream-of-conciousness recap of Last of the Time Lords. (Side note: when my sister brought my nephew down after his nap, he bore a striking resemblance to John Simm in the scene where the newly-awoken Master, complete with bedhead, comes in to taunt Dobby!Doctor) I also got the chance to read the latest and utterly brilliant chapter in [info]dark_aegis and [info]wendymr's new story. Oh, and [info]butterfly's new vid? Absolute heart-breaking elegance. Go watch it now!

Since I've exhausted my entertainment options, I might go out to the car and find a book to read before I go to bed. I hope y'all are having a good weekend!

There are no happy endings, because nothing ends.

Perilous Guard, YAY! I love that book. Like pie. Obviously. :D Kate is an awesome character.

I adore Perilous Gard too. I mean, Tam Lin mixed with Tudor England? I'm sure there's some combination that hits more of my kinks, but I can't think of anything right now. :-)

I've always loved Christopher's line about how he was staring at Kate like a mooncalf. It just hits me right in my gut. Perhaps it's because both Kate and Christopher are made of awesome, and so perfect for each other. [happy sigh]

I googled it and The Perilous Gard seems interesting. :D

Thank you for the head's-up on their new story! I absolutely loved the first chapter, I'm definitely going to read the second one after posting this (LOL).

I definitely recommend The Perilous Gard. It's most excellent.

And you're welcome for the heads-up!
